Non-stop Adelaide flights return to Launceston for summer season

Non-stop flights between Launceston and Adelaide will return from 6 October, with Virgin Australia recommencing its seasonal service for the summer travel period.

The return of the Adelaide route provides travellers with greater choice while strengthening connections between Tasmania and South Australia during one of the busiest times of the year for travel.

Launceston Airport CEO Katie Cooper said the return of three services per week was welcome news for travellers and for Northern Tasmania’s visitor economy.

“We’re delighted to welcome the Virgin Australia Adelaide service back to the arrivals board at Launceston Airport,” Ms Cooper said.

“Non-stop services like this are incredibly important for regional communities. They give people more choice when travelling and help families and friends stay connected.”

Virgin Australia General Manager Fleet, Network & Alliances Jim Fuoco said, “Virgin Australia is pleased to recommence our seasonal direct services between Adelaide and Launceston from 6 October, with three return services each week through to April 2027.”

“These flights give Australians more choice and connectivity between two important regional hubs over the busy summer period, making it easier for travellers to explore everything Tasmania and South Australia have to offer.”

The service also provides an opportunity to attract more South Australian visitors to Northern Tasmania.
“Every flight brings visitors into our region who stay in local accommodation, dine in our restaurants, visit our attractions and support local businesses. We’re excited to reconnect Launceston and Adelaide for another summer season from 6 October,” Ms Cooper said.
