Access to the Commercial Lane
Launceston Airport requires all Commercial Lane users to have current permits in order to pick up and drop off in this lane. Access is now by a pay-as-you-go system using Licence Plate Recognition and our trusted partner, ZipBy.
What You Need to Do:
- Register with ZipBy
Download the ZipBy app from your phone's app store, then create an account by providing your contact details. If using iPhone you need iOS 12.2 or later and for Android you need Version 9.0 or later (full version). If your device is incompatible with the app, you can sign up through the website Register - ZipBy Connect - Link a valid payment method with sufficient funds
- Add at least one vehicle licence plate to your profile. If you have signed up as a company and you have multiple vehicles, please add all licence plates to your account. You will have to apply for a permit for each vehicle individually. Click here for instructions on how to sign up

Access is only granted once you receive a Permit Approval confirmation via email.
Please Note: Each Permit is for the registered vehicle licence plate. If you sell your vehicle, you will need to remove the vehicle from your ZipBy account and cancel the Permit or you will continue to be charged through your existing ZipBy account. If the new owner will be accessing the Commercial Lane, they will need to apply for a new Permit.

Commercial Lane FAQ's
What is ZipBy?
Zipby uses Bluetooth and cameras to recognise your vehicle automatically. It enables seamless, automatic, and secure credit card payments upon entry, with digital receipts emailed directly.
Why can't I download the ZipBy app?
User devices must be running iPhone 12.2 or later or Android 9 or later (full version) in order to use the ZipBy app. If you cannot use the app, you can sign up via the ZipBy website.
What if the gate doesn't open?
Sometimes the cameras are unable to clearly read your plates.
All drivers: Use your Backup QR Code. Every Zipby permit has a QR code in the app. If the camera can’t see your plate, just hold your phone up to the scanner at the gate.
For Taxis: If you have supplementary ID plates right next to your license plate, please move those extra plates to above or below your main license plate instead.
Check your balance: Does your account have sufficient funds available?
Why was my payment declined?
Every entry into the Commercial Lane incurs a fee based on your permit type. to Fix a declined payment: If a payment fails due to low funds, adding a new card will not fix it. You must add funds to the original card to close the pending transaction before the system clears you for entry.
Why was my payment rejected?
Bank rejection: Sometimes banks get confused by many small payments and block them as "suspicious". If your payment is "Rejected," please get in touch with your bank to clear these transactions and authorise ZipBy transactions.
