Access to the Commercial Lane
Launceston Airport requires all Commercial Lane users to have current permits in order to pick up and drop off in this lane. Access is now by a pay-as-you-go system using Licence Plate Recognition and our trusted partner, ZipBy.
What You Need to Do:
- Register with ZipBy
All Commercial Transport Operators must sign up with ZipBy to use the Commercial Lane. You can download the ZipBy app from your phone's app store, then create an account by providing your contact details. Or you can sign up through the website Register - ZipBy Connect Next add at least one vehicle and a valid credit or debit card to your profile. Once you're registered, add your vehicle’s licence plate number to your ZipBy account so it can be recognised for access and payment. If you have signed up as a company and you have multiple vehicles, please add all licence plates to your account. You will have to apply for a permit for each vehicle individually - Apply for Your Permit

Please Note: Each Permit is for the registered vehicle licence plate. If you sell your vehicle, you will need to remove the vehicle from your ZipBy account and cancel the Permit or you will continue to be charged through your existing ZipBy account. If the new owner will be accessing the Commercial Lane, they will need to apply for a new Permit.

Got a current access card with credit?
No problem! If you still have credit after the transition, just visit Airport Reception (Level 1) with your card for a refund. Refunds are available until 30 January 2026.
