Link Airways has touched down at Launceston Airport for the first time today, marking the launch of services between Launceston and Canberra.
The milestone flight establishes a new year-round connection to the nation’s capital, operating four times per week on Link Airways’ SAAB 340B aircraft, providing greater choice for travellers, businesses and exporters.
Link Airways becomes the fifth carrier flying to Launceston Airport, with the new service supported by the Tasmanian Government’s Aviation Attraction Fund in partnership with Launceston and Canberra Airports.
Launceston Airport CEO Katie Cooper said the inaugural flight was a significant moment for the airport and Tasmania.
“Today marks an exciting new chapter for Launceston Airport as we welcome Link Airways and celebrate a new non-stop connection to Canberra,” she said.
“Whether it’s your first visit to Parliament House, your first glimpse of Cataract Gorge, or simply a long-overdue reunion, this new service opens the door to seamless two-way travel and invites more people to discover everything our region has to offer.
“Through a mix of seasonal and year-round services we now have direct connections to all mainland state capitals and the national capital, which puts our region within easy reach of millions of Australians.
