Ownership of Operations

Australia Pacific Airports Corporation (APAC), in conjunction with the Launceston City Council, acquired the lease for Launceston Airport in May 1998.

The Airport is majority Australian owned and is managed locally for the benefit of the region. We are committed to the long-term safe and secure operation of the Airport.  Australia Pacific Airports Corporation Limited (APAC) operates two Australian airports – Melbourne (Tullamarine) and Launceston.


Chairman

Lyell Strambi was appointed Chairman of Australia Pacific Airports (Launceston) in November 2018.


CEO

Hans van Pelt joined Australia Pacific Airports Corporation as CEO of Launceston Airport in August 2020.

The new airport chief is no stranger to either tourism or aviation, after running the Tasmanian government’s aviation and access development unit for more than six years. 

Hans also has experience running airlines as chief executive of start-up OzJet, further he was executive general manager of Regional Express Airlines.

At Launceston Airport, Hans leads the management team in attracting more flights and business opportunities to the region. He is passionate about Tasmania and works closely with partners across the tourism sector to promote the north of the state. Tasmania was recently voted the best state economy within Australia. Hans and the team at Launceston Airport are looking forward to doing their bit in future Tasmania recovery and growth.
