Start of work on Evandale Road Duplication - Launceston Airport to Breadalbane from Tuesday 6 April 2021
The Australian and Tasmanian Governments are funding the Evandale Road Duplication project to improve safety, reduce traffic congestion and support the future increase of traffic in the area.
The project involves increasing 1.9 kilometres of Evandale Road from two lanes to four, from the entrance to the Launceston Airport to the Breadalbane roundabout. A flexible safety barrier will be installed in sections along the road for increased safety. There will also be upgrades to key intersection along this road, including an upgrade of the Translink Avenue roundabout.
The upgrade will allow for future growth of the Launceston Airport and the surrounding commercial and industrial precincts.
The project is expected to be complete by the end of June 2022.
We will be working between 7:00am and 6:00pm from Monday to Friday, weather permitting.
The work will involve the use of machinery which generates some noise. We will make every effort to minimise noise and turn off machinery and vehicles when not in use.
There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the safety of workers and road users. A reduced speed limit will be in place during work hours and may affect travel times. Please allow up to 15 minutes of extra travel time during this work. Keep to the posted speed limit and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs.
If you have any questions, please contact the project's Community Liaison Officer on (03) 6210 0662 or firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information on our projects, visit transport.tas.gov.au.
Thank you for your patience during this important work.
