Launceston Airport has welcomed QantasLink’s announcement to deploy Bombardier Q400 aircraft on all its Launceston-Melbourne services from 17 August 2014.
Launceston Airport General Manager, Paul Hodgen, said the aircraft will provide improved convenience for passengers on the Melbourne route.
“This is great news for Tasmanians and for Launceston Airport, as it will deliver more seats and a more comfortable journey for passengers,” Mr Hodgen said.
“The upgraded flight is also at a great time, departing Melbourne at around 9am, which means less waiting time for international passengers who arrive on an overnight flight.”
“The introduction of the new Bombardier Q400 aircraft on all Melbourne flights will add 12,000 seats a year between Launceston and Melbourne from mid-August, as well as provide a quieter and faster journey.”
“We’ll continue to work with all of our airlines to provide more travelling opportunities for Tasmanians and more choice for people to come and enjoy our wonderful state.”
QantasLink operates 28 return flights a week between Launceston and Melbourne which are currently operated by a combination of the 74-seat Q400 aircraft and 50-seat Q300 aircraft.
