    Northern Tasmania Development (NTD)

    The Northern Tasmanian Regional Development Board, known as Northern Tasmania Development, was established as Company Limited By Guarantee and Shares in 1992 to undertake regional development activities in Northern Tasmania, defined as the areas administered by the Break O´Day, Dorset, Flinders, George Town, Launceston City, Meander Valley, Northern Midlands and West Tamar Councils.

    In mid 2002 the eight Northern Tasmanian Councils purchased the Northern Tasmanian Regional Development Board and proceeded to focus the activities of the Company on:

    • identifying and promoting regional strengths
    • working with others to enhance these strengths and develop opportunities
    • providing high quality research and information relevant to Northern Tasmania
    • building and maintaining strong relationships with business, communities, Local Government, the Tasmanian Government and the Australian Government
    • being a credible voice and provide leadership on matters of regional significance
    • co-ordination, facilitating and managing regional projects and initiatives
    • In summary, the role of Northern Tasmania Development is to undertake worthy economic, community and environmental strategic initiatives in Northern Tasmania.
